Humoristic Proposal of a "Mathematically Oriented Reform" of English Orthography

Playing with words and mathematics inspired the author Rolf Windenberg to invent the mathematically oriented reform of orthography.

First, he applied it to the German language, which can be found in his first book, called “Um etliche Ecken ged8” and, following the demand, just recently applied it to the English language, too. By playing with words, phrases and mathematical characters, a humoristic and intellectually stimulating work was created. The author suggests to use √66 [for “Route 66”], chemi • cal [for “chemical product”], (trafalgar)² [for “Trafalgar Square”], Y R U so Z 2dA? [for “why are you so sad today ?”] to give just a few examples.

To help the reader solve the challenging language riddles, the book is enriched with joyful illustrations by the graphic designer Rico W. Hasselfang (alias: Sascha Wolfinger). In that way, the reader is led through the different degrees of difficulty in an amusing manner, until the reader finally becomes an expert by having a hopefully truly exciting and amusing time.

Rolf Windenberg (alias: Bernd Wolfinger), Jahrgang 1951, ist seit mehr als 35 Jahren als Informatik-Professor an der Universität Hamburg tätig. Unter anderem um seine Lehrveranstaltungen etwas aufzulockern, erfand er die sogenannte „Mathematisch-orientierte Rechtschreibreform“, deren Resultate bei seinen Studenten und bei Kollegen erstaunlich gut ankamen. Daher entschloss er sich, nach nahezu 200 wissenschaftlichen Publikationen, gemeinsam mit seinem Sohn Sascha im Jahr 2012 mit dem Buch „Um etliche Ecken ged8“ sein erstes humoristisches Werk im Shaker Media Verlag zu veröffentlichen. Mit der nunmehr vorliegenden zweiten humoristischen Publikation “How 2 Shor10 English Texts“ überträgt Rolf Windenberg seine neuartige Rechtschreibreform auch auf die englische Sprache.

Rico W. Hasselfang (alias: Sascha Wolfinger), geboren 1978, studierte Kommunikationsdesign an der Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften (HAW) Hamburg, wo er 2009 einen Abschluss als Diplomillustrator erreichte. Sascha fungierte bereits als Illustrator für „Um etliche Ecken ged8“. Das vorliegende Buch ist somit Saschas bislang zweites großes Illustrationsprojekt - weitere dürften in naher Zukunft folgen.
